here is the email I got back form voxtel after we went down again today over exceding our band width for the 3 rd time in one month
Leif,
We keep give you free bumps, but you really need to be on a different hosting plan to accommodate the increased bandwidth and disk space usage needs you have. There isn't a setting on your side because to adjust these items because they are related to your pricing and need to be approved.
For now, I've increased you to 25GB of bandwidth and 3500 MB of disk space. The cost for that is $29.95/mo vs $19.95/mo. Please confirm and I'll make the necessary billing changes.
Regards,

So I did that to get the forum back again today
I also spoke to them and they stated that it si not so much all the photos since i upload them as 800x600
it is just a lot of bandwidth due to chat and a busy forum..
so I asked them why godaddy can do 100gb a month for 9.99 what am I missing and I am waiting for a reply ti is just such a big difefrence for me each month wiht the bandwidth to have to pay that every month and then increasing it every month and I dont want to loose any fo the features that we have built and I dont want it to go slow and I want all members to have a good time on here
so Tim
I have backed everything up
If I buy a godaddy account and then set it up can you move it all over there safely and then I just redirect register.com to it and forward the dns server setting once that is done and see if that will solve all our bandwidth problems.
Let em know and I wil set it up as soon as you tell me you knwo what to do or if you can download a the full download and then uplaod to the new host account I just know that a lot of tables and data sometimes get lost in transferr so what is your opinon on this ...
stay and pay more or move and pay less
my concern is that we woud ahve to reuplaod all the new data and re install all like forums boards portal gallery etc etc..

I know the guys at Voxel. Let me see if I can pull some strings and see what the deal is. Also I see if I can get more details on what's sucking up most the bandwidth, etc, etc.

Prior to me setting up my own webservers, I used http://www.brinkster.com/.
For $28/mo you get 500GB of storage, and 6000GB of bandwidth. I never had any problems with speed or service.
Comparing those #s to Voxel is like two different worlds.

I don't think the club wants to pay for a T1.
I don't see why we have so much problem with Band width...
TSB and other sites don't have these issues that we have and they have more users and more posts each day.
I think the next most logical step for this is to have Icebrkr take a look at the site and provide the club with an assessment on what is slowing it down and that the bandwidth hog really is.
Then I think we need to look at what this club NEEDS and uses over what is just Fluff and we Don't really need or use.
It's nice to have all the bells and whistles but if it's going to cost the Club an arm and a leg each month is it really worth it?
For me it's a cost effectiveness v.s. Usage debate. Throwing more Money at the issue isn't necessarily the answer for me.
I'd like to find a plan that fits us, streamline the site and start there. this way we don't have a Hugh over head cost and NO MONEY COMING IN. Once we get money coming in from member Dues we can talk about spending it. IMO
Thats my 2 cents. Go on now, beat me up over it, I'm already expecting it...

I think stream-lining the site is the right choice. T1's run at a bare minimum $400/mo and that's for a zero-mile run. After that, you pay milage and usage on top of that. Your home/business class cable will most likely be shutdown if you pulled as much traffic as we do now. It's business in the sense you can work from home and such. I may download vBulletin and put it into a staging area. Implementing one option/feature at a time and optimize each. This can take some time. So everyone be patient and lets not make any knee-jerk reactions. I'm currently talking to one of my network admin buddies over at Voxel and trying to see if there's anything he can see that's blowing us up. I'll work with him on getting things straightened out.

Ok tim that sounds good.
I realize what yoru saying chris but they donot have the outside looking in as much as we do to our website.
I gurantee you that.
google or yahoo or msn etc clearwaterbiker then do the same for tsb and see were you end up..
anyway I have set up all the rss to stream out new contnet every day form the forum
I also have the froogle and also the goole spiders welcoemd in..
I also have a lof o bandwidth I can see taken from spyder alone..
I might have to cut some of them off..
I knwo that clearwaterbiker.com alone is pulling over 50gb a month and that is not any forums not any other stuff on it and a bout 65000 hits per day on it...
so I assume that there has to do proably with the rss feeds and spyders..
clearwaterbiker.com is right now sitting on the same server as channel 10

Ok, nearly 800megs a month comes from the watermark.php file for the photos. Lief, I may need access to the awstats/webalizer/analog statistics pages under siteworx. So I can see what's pulling the bandwidth.
According to my buddy, the sites traffic just keeps doubling. If that's the case, we'll just need to trim some fat. But apparently, each month, the site traffic either doubles or triples.
Once I have access to the weblogs and such, I can see what's doing what and we can trim from there.
I'm also looking into alternate hosting packages they offer to see if might be worth it.

but I am happy that the websiet is drawing so much raffic that is just great
so I am not going to complain about that
I know that it will benefit us sooner or later
I will just keep payinmgh and hope it does not get out of hand lol..
especially with not enough advertisers whom coudl have paid for it..
I used ot have a a few advertisers that paid fo rit now it is only me left.
The companys
eurocycle used to pay $500.00 a year
ride now used to pay $500.00 a year
wst coast powersports used to pay $500.00 a year
btu that was when we wer having 70 000 hits per day
but it is fastly getting there again..
so I will start to see what companys that want to
have some exposure for now I will start to remove them and until they pay up again I will nto keep any sponsors on except for my store..
sinc I am paying for it anyway..
